Elijah was a man just like us, he had everything we have being given by God as humans. But what did Elijah do so differently or what made Elijah unique? Let’s read the scripture to find out what He did

James 5: 16b -18

[16b] The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

[17] Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

[18] And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

The key word to be noted is Earnestly, Elijah didn’t pray challenging God to perform that miracle but Earnestly he prayed that there should be no rain and so did it happen for three and half years and then he prayed Earnestly again and the earth was able to produce it fruits.

Prayer is a weapon and it’s not a weapon of the world. It’s a weapon God gave us and it has the divine power to break every chain, move mountains, erase struggles, provide wisdom, uproot diseases and also bring light unto our paths.

What is it that you think prayer cannot do? What’s your basis for saying with what am going through prayer cannot work it out? The power that prayer holds does not reside in the person praying, the power resides in God whom you are praying to.

Now if you have been praying for years about something but still you seem not to have an answer, then you have to look at that situation in two folds;

Firstly it might be that what you have been praying for is not in a accordance with God’s will for your life. You might want it so badly but God knows what’s best for you, He knows the perfect place or position to place you so you can shine for the world to see. So if you are in such a situation what you have to do in your next step is to pray again to God on His best ways and things for your life.

Secondly, God’s delay doesn’t mean denial. Before you get what you have been praying for, maybe certain things has to be done gradually before, and it’s not like God cannot do it all within a twinkling of an eye. He can supply all our needs within a second but He just want us to have the spirit of patience and that’s why we have something called Miracle. So if you find your self in this situation all you have to do is to keep on praying and hold on to His words.

Finishing up on Praying Earnestly the last important thing I want you to understand is that prayer isn’t about the use of big words or phrases, that wouldn’t get God to answer immediately. In Matthew 6:7-8 the good book teaches us that;

[7] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. [8] Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

God knows it all even before we ask, the reason we pray is for us to have a daily conversation with our father in heaven and ask him for His grace and help on our life’s journey. There is power in prayer and I can testify so many times on it, So I plead and urge that you put on the armour of prayer and start talking to God earnestly, and as faithful as He is, He will surely come to your aid.
